Patch Picks: Fun Day Camps for Kids this Summer

A list of summer day camps in the area.

This week Patch Picks selected fun summer day camps in the area. Camp activities are for all ages, and range from adventure to sports. Registration for many camps has recently opened, and will run until May.

Buehler YMCA offers a full list of camp options, including programs for Young Explorers (ages 4-6) like Fun with Food, Dinosaur Detectives, Wacky Scientists, Underwater Adventures and more. Specialty Day Camp options are also available for older children, like Pirate Camp for ages 6-8 and It’s Magic! for ages 7-12. Most camps run June – Aug. Peruse the catalog online for a full list.

The Goddard School offers summer camps for age pre-k and up which are built to explore a comprehensive list of activities. Camp participants explore song, stories, physical activities and safe adventure. Curriculums may include Science and Nature, Arts and Crafts, Manners, Computers and Technology, Literature and Language, music, sports and games.

Northeast Palatine Summer Camp employs public and private parties working together to make it possible for more than 100 low-income youth to enjoy three weeks of summer camp. Participating parties include Buehler YMCA, Palatine Police Department, Palatine Park District, Consolidated School District 15 and Palatine Opportunity Center. Children ages 7- 14 enjoy a wide variety of activities, including water outings, team building engagements, games and crafts.

KinderCare Palatine has 12 different camp programs for pre-school and pre-K kids, as well as school-age children. These camps run from May to August, and feature courses such as Wilderness 101, Scienterrific, Spectacular Sports, Animal Antics, Wild Wild West, Kids’ Kitchen, Art Expo and more. KinderCare learning facilities also at 838 N. Quentin Rd., and 1653 N. Baldwin Rd.

Palatine Park District offers summer camps for kids entering 2nd – 6th grades in the Fall. Day camp participants explore activities like drama, sports, fitness, crafts, field trips and swimming. Specialty sports camps are also available for kids entering grades 2-6, and theatre camps from ages 10-17. View the catalog.

Salt Creek Park District features a variety of Day Camps, including Camp Sunshine for ages 6-12. Camp activities include crafts, swimming, games and field trips. Sessions run June – August. Specialty camps like Adventure Camp (9-12 years), Travel Camp (6-12 years) and Sports-a-Palooza (6-12 years) are also offered.
