Founders End Palatine's Yellow Ribbon Support Group After More Than 28,000 Care Packages

Pat and Mac McCoy have sent more than 28,000 care packages overseas to support the troops.

After more than 28,000 care packages for troops overseas, Pat and Mac McCoy have decided to end Palatine's Yellow Ribbon Support Group the Daily Herald reported.

"We're very proud of what we've done," Pat McCoy told the newspaper. "But it's time."

Patch spoke to the McCoys about the support group in December 2012. The McCoys began their mission to support the troops when their son Rick was a staff Sgt. Green Beret with the 20th Special Forces.

Their son ultimately was deployed five times. Even after he retired from the armed forces, the McCoys continued to support the troops, ultimately sending more than 28,000 packages overseas through their nonprofit Yellow Ribbon Support Group.
