More than 300 sixth graders participated in the annual District 15 2-Ball Competition, which was held February 8 and 9 at the Palatine Community Center.

In 2-Ball, teams of two players shoot from various spots on the floor to try to accumulate as many points as they can in two different minute-long rounds. For the District competition, which was sponsored by the District's physical education teachers, each elementary school was represented by five sets of girls and five sets of boys, and medals were awarded to the top six teams in both the small and large school divisions.

In the boys' competition, winners were (front row, left to right): Andrew Roycroft and Derek Warnstedt, the large school division boys champions from Thomas Jefferson School; and Ben Jahns and Zach Zimmer, the small school boys champions from Central Road School.

In the girls' competition, winners were (back row, left to right): Anja Jacobsen and Kacie Filian, the large school girls champions from Virginia Lake School; and Maggie Scovic and Jaclyn Frank, the small school girls champions from Winston Campus Elementary.

Their coaches were (from left to right): Ryan Johnson, Thomas Jefferson PE teacher; John Smart, Virginia Lake PE teacher; Sharon Rusk, Winston Campus PE teacher, and (not pictured) Teri Graf, Central Road PE teacher.
