Attention basketball fans! Get ready to pack the stands and cheer your school’s team to victory!

The District Fifteen Educational Foundation will gather 16 teams comprised of school staff members to compete in its first ever “Staff Slam Dunk” charity basketball tournament the morning of Saturday, April 6, at Winston Campus, 900 E. Palatine Road in Palatine.

“We believe that community building and school spirit can be gained from students supporting their home school teams during the tournament,” said Brier Nelson, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “The games will bring the entire District 15 community together to celebrate sport, healthy competition, and fun!”

They will be competing for the tournament’s grand prize—a $500 Foundation grant for the winning school—and if you believe your favorite teachers’ basketball skills may need a boost, you can earn an assist by helping their teams earn up to 10 points per game before they even make a single basket!

In the weeks leading up to the tournament, teachers and other staff members that comprise each school’s team may be participating in the tournament’s “Pennies for Points” fundraiser in which their teams will receive one point for every $100 in donations they collect for the Foundation. So be on the lookout for opportunities to use your spare change to put points on your favorite team’s scoreboard.

However, that’s not the only opportunity fans will have to help their schools win the “Staff Slam Dunk” championship. On game day, families can put on their spirit wear and pack the stands at Winston Campus. Tickets are only $1 (children age 2 and under are free).

All proceeds from the “Staff Slam Dunk” charity basketball tournament will be used by the District Fifteen Educational Foundation to fund programming throughout District 15 schools.
