D15 Board approves five-year contract for Superintendent Scott Thompson

The Community Consolidated School District 15 Board of Education approved a new five-year contract for Superintendent Scott Thompson during its September 12 meeting.

The Community Consolidated School District 15 Board of Education approved a new five-year contract for Superintendent Scott Thompson during its September 12 meeting.

Board President Tim Millar said the new contract was a show of support and commitment to Mr. Thompson for his work to improve communication and strengthen the District’s financial position over the past two years.

Mr. Thompson said he was honored by the confidence the Board showed in him by extending his contract through the 2016-17 school year, and added that he, too, is pleased with the direction the District is now headed.

The contract includes a 1.5 percent raise for the current year, thereby increasing Mr. Thompson’s salary to about $224,000. Future salary adjustments will be determined annually based on performance evaluations.

Under Mr. Thompson’s previous contract, the District did not contribute to the Teachers Retirement System on his behalf. Rather, it added that amount to his base salary. The new contract continues that practice. It also provides that, should the Board decide to part ways with Mr. Thompson prior to the end of the contract, the maximum liability for the District would be to pay eight months’ of his salary versus the balance of the amount called for in the contract.
