Board to Host Community Forum on Oct. 24

District 15's Board of Education will host its first in a series of quarterly community forums on Monday, October 24.

Community Consolidated School District 15’s Board of Education will host its first in a series of quarterly community forums on Monday, October 24, from 7-9 p.m. at the Joseph M. Kiszka Educational Service Center, 580 N. 1st Bank Drive, Palatine.

The evening will open with a discussion of the purpose and structure of the community forum concept, which is designed to create additional opportunities for community members to share feedback with, and ask questions of, Board members and the administration on a variety of topics. During the forum, the Board will also review with forum participants its role as a governing body and will emphasize that Board members who are participating in the forum will not share their personal opinions, nor will they be able to take action on issues discussed at the forum unless the whole Board does so at a regular Board meeting.

Following this introduction, the forum will transition into a brief presentation on the District’s financial outlook. A panel of Board members and District administrators will then take questions from the community regarding the District’s finances. The meeting will conclude with a discussion on potential topics for future forums.
