Inverness Girl Wins Gold At USA Gymnastics Open Championships

Kayla Colby of Inverness won gold at the USA Gymnastics Open Championships this month.

The ESPM Wide World of Sports event was held on June 3 in Orlando.

Colby, 13, won a gold medal in the all-around competition with a 37.8 score and helped her team, Balance Institute Gymnastics of Burr Ridge, win the Level 7 title.

Balance Institute was invited to compete in the USA Gymnastics meet as the Illinois State Champions and won first place in the national competition with a team total of 115.10.

Colby also won the silver medal for vault (9.45), silver medal for bars (9.225), gold medal for beam (9.5), and silver medal for floor (9.625).

Colby just completed seventh grade at Sundling Jr. High School and is excited to be training for Level 8 this summer.
