Hockey Player from Palatine Selected as NCHA Offensive Player of the Week

Marian Univeristy junior forward Nina Laurie of Palatine is this week's recipient of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week.

The Sabres completed a sweep of Finlandia this past weekend, defeating the Lions 2-0 and 3-2, according to a Marian University press release. In Friday night's shutout, Laurie registered an assist on Amanda Waigand's game-winner in the first period. 

On Saturday, she launched an offensive attack with her team trailing in the third period. Laurie scored at 10:25 and 13:06 to draw the game back to even before teammate Rian Lennon scored the game-winner, according to the news release. 

The Sabres will travel to Mequon on Thursday to play Concordia-Wis., before having the weekend off. The Falcons are 2-2 in the NCHA, falling to Lake Forest this past weekend.
