             “Run Your First 5K” Training Sessions

Running your first 5K just got a bit easier thanks to a weekly class now being offered at Midtown Athletic Club in Palatine, 1760 North Hicks Rd.

Working toward the 9th Annual Midtown 5K Run & Walk on September 24, the club is currently offering a weekly “Run Your First 5K” training session which offers tips, techniques and professional instruction for first time marathoners. The sessions include training runs with a personal trainer each week, a step-by-step program with detailed daily running mileage and cardio training. Also included are lectures on running technique, nutrition, injury prevention, warm-up and stretching, running shoes, and apparel.

Classes are held on Saturdays from 8-10 a.m. through September 24. Cost is $50 for members and $60 for non members and includes a discount on the 5K race fee.  For more information contact Neil Wywialowski at neil.wywialowski@midtown.com, call 847-991-4646, or visit midtown.com/palatine.

About the Midtown 5KRun & Walk

The 9th annual Midtown 5K Run & Walk features a 3.1-mile course starting and finishing at Midtown Athletic Club Palatine and winding throughout the Deer Grove East Forest Preserve. All proceeds benefit Bears Care, the official charity arm of the Chicago Bears, which is committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicagoland community, especially disadvantaged children and their families through targeted programs supporting education, youth athletics, and medical research and health awareness programs focusing on breast and ovarian cancer.
