10th annual Midtown 5K Run/Walk

Midtown Athletic Club Palatine, 1760 N. Hicks Rd., will host their 10th Annual Midtown 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, September 29 at 8:30 a.m. Entry fees are $30 per adult and $20 for children ages 14-and-under if they register by September 22.  Entry fees include long sleeve t-shirt, and post-race party.

 

Registration for the Midtown 5K is now being accepted at signmeup.com/81220 or by mail thru September 22.  Race day registration will take place starting at 6:45 a.m. on September 29.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 plus.

All proceeds benefit Bears Care, which is committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicagoland community, especially disadvantaged children and their families through targeted programs supporting education, youth athletics, and medical research and health awareness programs focusing on breast and ovarian cancer.

 

 

A Morning of Fun

101.9fm THE MIX will provide pre-race entertainment and Mobile Music Interactive Entertainment and Get Flipped will provide post race entertainment. Food and refreshments will be served compliments of Whole Foods Palatine and Culver’s of Palatine.

 

Participating 5K sponsors include U.S. Bank, Bears Outreach, Solid Line Media, Whole Foods Market Palatine, Get Flipped Chicago, UPS, Mobile Music Interactive Entertainment, Athletico, Quill.com, Culver’s, 101.9fm THE MIX, Direct Fitness Solutions, and Richard Klein Photography.

 

All non-Midtown member 5K participants will receive a complimentary guest pass to experience all the club has to offer including tennis, aquatics, group fitness, yoga, Pilates and much more.

Help for First Time Runners

Midtown is currently offering a weekly “Run Your First 5K” training class on Saturday mornings from 8-10 a.m. through race day. Each session includes a weekly run along with lectures by professional speakers focusing on running technique, warm up, stretching, injury prevention, running apparel and nutrition. Run Your First 5K participants receive a discount on their registration fee for the 5K.
