Palatine Wins MSL Girls Conference Track Meet

Lisa Neal snapped these shots at the girls MSL conference track meet on Friday.

Palatine High School won the team competition at the MSL girls conference track meet compiling 275 points.

Palatine was paced by Laura Schwiekert who finished first in the 400 meters and second in the 200 meters. Tess Wasowicz added second place finishes in the 1600 meters and the 800 meters and Courtney Brown finished second in the 3200 meters.

In field events, Palatine got a first place performance from pole vaulter Meghan Flanagan. Meg Jump won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump for Palatine. Valere Guertin finished third in the long jump.

Flanagan, Jump and Guertin also were key members of the Pirates strong relay teams. The Pirates finished second in the 4X800 relay (Liz Cox, Cassidy McPherson, Becca Sund, Sarah McIntosh), the 4X400 relay (Flanagan, Morgan Quinnett, Jump, Guertin), and the 4X200 relay (Flanagan, Guertin, Jump, Taylor Tenca).

Fremd High School finished ninth at the conference meet. Kelly Breen garnered a third place finish in the 3200 meters for the Vikings and Stephanie Uhrich finished third in the high jump for the Vikings.
