D-15 Superintendent Accepts Pay Freeze, Contract Extension through 2014
Board unanimously approves contract extension, pay freeze for superintendent
The District 15 school board unanimously approved a three year extension for Superintendent Scott Thompson along with a salary freeze.
Board president Tim Millar said that Thompson is doing a great job and is working with them on the district’s budget issues by taking a pay freeze. Millar said it sets a good example for the community.
The current contract, which was approved by the previous board in , included a base salary of $198,000 along with pension contributions to the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) – which includes administrators.

Thompson’s base salary and pension contributions now have been combined for a salary of $220,000 through July 2014.
With proposals in Springfield calling for an increase of 4 percent in TRS payments, language has been removed from the contract making the district liable for any such increase.

Additional pension contributions would come directly from Thompson’s salary.
