Palatine Village Council: What's on the Agenda?

Palatine Village Council meets Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m. Agenda items include a special use permit for an animal hospital, adjusting codes relating to fireworks and discussion on times vehicles parked on a driveway can overhang on a sidewalk.

The following items are listed on the agenda for Monday, June 10 and will be considered by the village council:

  • Consideration of an ordinance granting a Special Use Permit for an animal hospital to locate at 444-448 E. Northwest Highway in District 6. The building was formerly inhabited by Manpower, and is located between Allied Heating and Air Conditioning and an office building that contains John James-State Farm agent.
  • Consideration of an ordinance granting a Special Use Permit for NeuroRestorative, a group home that currently houses four residents with traumatic brain injuries, to remodel and bring the resident capacity up to five, at 1158 N. Deer Avenue in District 1. In March of 2012, the Village of Palatine amended the zoning ordinance and reduced the permitted number of residents from eight to four. A Special Use Permit is required for the home to house more than four residents.
  • Consideration of an ordinance that would amend one of the Palatine Code of Ordinances prohibiting parking on parts of Cedar Street near Palatine Road and on both sides of Helen Road in certain locations near Plum Grove Road. Observed congestion in the area due to current parking practices is making it difficult for cars to enter Cedar Street and Helen Road.
  • Consideration to amend the Code of Ordinances which would redefine what fireworks are, where and what uses are prohibited and implementation of a penalty of $30 per offense. To read more on the changes, click here.
  • Discussion will be held on responding to a resident request to modify the hours that cars parked on a driveway can overhang on a sidewalk. The current permitted hours are 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.; the resident requested the hours be changed to 9 p.m. until 7 a.m.
The Palatine Village Council meets in Village Council Chambers, 200 E. Wood Street, at 7 p.m.
