Palatine Village and Township Candidates Set

While the Village of Palatine April 2013 consolidated election has no contested races so far, Palatine Township voters will have 17 candidates to decide between for seven open seats on its board.  

The filing period for mayor of Palatine, village clerk, and council seats for districts 1, 4 and 6 ended November 26, along with township supervisor, assessor, highway commissioner and four trustee seats.

The Palatine Township Republican Organization has endorsed a slate including Sharon Langlotz-Johnson for supervisor, Tom Kaider for highway commissioner, Kathy Allegretti for clerk, and Bill Pohlman, Art Goes, Kevin McGrane and Bill Huley for trustee. 

Current Palatine Township Supervisor Linda Fleming also plans to run again, along with Terry Kelly for assessor, John Powers for highway commissioner, and Chris Adrian, Vince Farina, John Mathias, and Debbie McGuire for trustee.

Palatine Township Clerk Lisa Moran will run for reelection as well, in addition to newcomers for trustee including Kevin O'Connell, Julie Ann Johnson and Jason Hillenbrand. 

The primary will be held February 26, 2013. The winning candidates for each of the seven open elected positions will go on to face the democrats, who have chosen to have a caucus December 4, and will skip the primary.

Write-in candidates have to file by February 7 to be included on the April 2013 consolidated election ballot.

Village of Palatine

Incumbents including Mayor Jim Schwantz, Village Clerk Marg Duer, and Councilmen Greg Solberg (District 4) and Brad Helms (District 6) all filed and will be running for reelection.

District 1 Councilman Aaron Del Mar has chosen not run again, but District 15 School Board President Tim Millar has filed to run for the seat.

Write-in candidates also have until February 7, 2013 to be included on the ballot in the April 9, 2013 consolidated election.
