UPDATED: Palatine Approves Car Shows Downtown

The Palatine Village Council approved a proposal for car shows downtown at its meeting Monday.

The Palatine Village Council Monday will consider a proposal for a weekly car show downtown.

American Muscle Cars and T. J. O'Brien's Bar & Grill want to host the show in a village parking lot located south of Palatine Road between Brockway and Bothwell Street.

If approved the shows would be from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays from July 10 through Oct. 30. The Village Council will meet Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at , 200 E. Wood St.

According to the proposal from American Muscle Cars and T. J. O'Brien's, there would be 30 to 42 classic cars displayed for viewing. There would be no food and drink vendors and no alcoholic beverages.

is located at 53 W. Slade St. and was formerly known as Hotshots Saloon.

The car show would utilize the northern portion of the parking lot, while the southeast corner of the parking lot and southwest corner would be used for customer parking. According to village documents, of the adjacent business owners, only , 15 S. Brockway St., would be open during the event. , 16 S. Bothwell St., might open for lunch to support the event if it is approved.

If the Village Council approves the proposal, it would be the second classic car night to come to Palatine. In March the village approved Palatine Cruise Night–a proposal for a show with 100 to 150 classic and muscle cars at the old Menard's property 1775 N. Rand Rd.

The Palatine Cruise Night is on Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Oct. 14.
