Free Electronics Recycling Event In Palatine

Palatine Township and the Palatine Lions Club will have a free electronics recycling event Oct. 29.

and the Palatine Lions Club will be holding a free Electronics Recycling Event for individuals and businesses on Saturday Oct. 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palatine Township Offices Parking Lot located at 721 S. Quentin Rd., Palatine.

This could be your last chance to properly dispose of your electronic items before a new law goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2012 that bans certain electronic items from being sent to a landfill, a press release from Palatine Township states.

A partial list of items being accepted are computers and laptops, monitors, scanners, TVs (less than 27") & remotes, small kitchen appliances (no microwaves), CD, DVD &  VCR players, batteries (no car batteries) computer components including mice, power cords & cables and many more items.  All computer hard drives will be wiped clean in the recycling process.

The Lions Club also will be accepting used eyeglasses, used hearing aids, inkjet cartridges and keys.

White goods, light bulbs, paint, batteries or other hazardous materials (including car batteries and construction debris) will not be accepted at this event.
