Federal Funds to Pay for Street Safety Improvements in Palatine

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Opportunity has allocated a $200,000 grant to the village of Palatine to install traffic signals and pedestrian crosswalks at Rand and Hicks road, according to the Daily Herald. 

In addition, the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program will cover 90 percent of the $83,000 for lighting at six intersections between Palatine Road and Smith Street, which are slated to get modern traffic signal equipment, according to the article.
