Six-year-old Killed By Falling TV in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights Police said that a six-year-old boy was killed by a falling TV Sunday.

A 6-year-old boy died Sunday in Arlington Heights after a 36-inch TV fell on him, Arlington Heights police state in a press release.

Karl Clermont was at home with his live-in aunt and a 3-year-old cousin Sunday night when the incident happend, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Arlington Heights police said that Clermont was found in the basement with the TV on top of him. The adult who was home summoned a neighbor for help, who removed the TV from the boy's body. CPR was performed on the boy until fire department personnel arrived.

Arlington Heights police said Clermont had been in the basement alone at the time of the incident and that the TV had been on a stand.

Clermont was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. by Northwest Community Hospital Emergency room medical staff. The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was accidental and due to cranial cerebral injury.
