Prosecution Gets More Time to Prep Case Against Man Accused in 1997 Murder of Palatine Girl

The prosecution will get more time to prepare their case against James P. Eaton — a Palatine man recently arrested for killing 14-year-old Amber Gail Creek of Palatine according to the Daily Herald.
During a hearing Tuesday morning in Wisconsin, Racine County District Attorney Richard Chiapete said prosecutors needed additional time to go through evidence before heading to trial and reported that materials in the case were "voluminous," according to the article.
Eaton remains in custody on a $500,000 bond, according to the Daily Herald. Eaton was arrested in April and is charged with first-degree murder and hiding a corpse

The arrest came after fingerprints submitted to the FBI in 1997 were matched to Eaton in late February by Oklahoma authorities who were reviewing Amber's cold case, according to an April Daily Herald article.
