Police investigate report of suspicious vehicle

Stranger offered children candy at bus stop.

Palatine Police are investigating an incident that occurred Sept. 15 at about 8:24 a.m.

A white male in a gray four-door vehicle offered candy to a group of children who were waiting at a bus stop in the 1200 block of Wellington Drive, police said.

The witness, a 10-year-old girl said that after she took a piece of candy, the man drove away. Police said that the driver did not attempt to exit the vehicle or ask the girl to enter the vehicle. The girl immediately told her mother who was watching from a nearby location, who then contacted police.

The driver is described as being in his 60s, with thinning gray hair.
