Palatine Woman Tied Up, Robbed in Home Invasion

A Palatine woman was tied up and left in the basement while two armed men burglarized her home on West Brookline Court.

Bound with duct tape, a Palatine woman was left tied up in her basement Wednesday morning while two armed men burglarized her home and stole her SUV, police said.

The 46-year-old woman arrived home on the 400 block of West Brookline Court at 9:20 a.m. and walked into a home invasion. According to the Palatine Police Department two men armed with handguns confronted the woman, tied her up and proceeded to burglarize her home. Police said the two men stole items from the woman’s purse and home before taking off in her 2009 black Cadillac Escalade.

After two hours the 46-year-old woman was finally able break free from the duct tape and call 911 around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers with the Palatine Police Department responded to the reported home invasion and burglary in a small cul-de-sac in the Wexford subdivision, just off of Euclid Road. 

According to police, the woman was not seriously injured during the home invasion and refused any medical attention.

Police were able to track the stolen vehicle through an active “On-Star” system, the Escalade was found abandoned on West Monroe Street in Chicago Wednesday.

The suspects are described as black men in their 20s, one being about 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds, the other standing around 5-foot-10, weighing about 160 pounds.

Palatine Investigators are currently following up on leads in an effort to identify the offenders. Anyone with information should call 847-359-9000.
