Palatine Police To Step Up Patrols for St. Patrick's Day Weekend

The Palatine Police Department will step up patrols this weekend.

The Palatine Police Department will saturate roadways with police officers this weekend looking for impaired drivers, according to a press release from the department.

Palatine is participating in the St. Patrick's Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign. During the campaign the department will use saturation patrols to look for impaired drivers, people not wearing their seat belts, and speeders. Palatine police said in a press release that these violations are among the largest contributing in serious injury and fatal vehicle crashes.

Palatine also will conduct a roadside safety check on March 18 near Algonquin and Roselle Roads in the late evening and early morning hours. Palatine police said that according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, midnight to 3 a.m. is the deadliest time on Illinois roads.
