Palatine Police Increasing Patrols During Labor Day Safety Campaign

The Palatine Police department will be using saturation patrols during a Labor Day traffic safety campaign.

The Palatine Police Department will step up traffic patrols as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Lador Day Holiday Safety Campaign.

The department will be use saturation patrols to look for impaired drivers, speeders, and enforce seat belt and child safety laws. A state grant will assist in paying for the increased patrols, a press release from the department states.

As part of the campaign, Palatine will conduct a roadside safety check on Aug. 19 near Algonquin and Roselle Roads in the late evening and early morning hours.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3 a.m. time frame is the deadliest time on Illinois roads, the press release states. This time frame also has the lowest occupant restraint use involving motor vehicle fatalities.
