Palatine Police Contend with Retail Thefts, Vehicle Burglary

The Palatine Police Department police reports crime from Sept. 10-13.

Sept. 10

Ronald X. Owens, 49, of the 4100 block of Bonhill Drive, Arlington Heights was charged with retail theft. Owens allegedly took Mucinex from Wal-Mart, 1555 N. Rand Road without paying for it.

Sometime between 1o p.m. Sept. 10 and 2:30 a.m. Sept. 11 a vehicle burglary occurred at 1160 E. Dundee Road in the La Rosita Plaza strip mall. The passenger window of a Mitsubishi Lancer was smashed. The owner of the vehicle reported that a GPS unit valued at $150 and a stereo faceplate were taken.

Sometime between 10 p.m. Sept. 10 and 2:30 a.m. Sept. 11 a vehicle burglary occurred at 1160 E. Dundee Road in the La Rosita Plaza strip mall. A white 2000 Dodge Caravan had its passenger window smashed. The owner of the vehicle reported that various CDs and a phone charger were taken.

Mario Rivera, 35, of the 2000 block of N. Ginger Creek Circle, Palatine, was charged with retail theft. Rivera allegedly attempted to walk out of Wal-Mart, 1555 N. Rand Road without paying for a CD.

Sometime between 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 12 a vehicle burglary occurred in the 800 block of Capri Drive. The owner of a white 200 Chevy Venture reported that a purse containing identification and credit cards was taken.

Sept. 12

Sometime between 11:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 8:45 a.m. Sept. 13 a vehicle burglary occurred in the 100 block of North Kitson Drive. The owner of a white 1998 Honda Civic reported that two laptop computers were taken and ownership documents related to the vehicle.
