Palatine Police Blotter: Bedroom Window Shattered, $200 in Stolen Quarters

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A victim reported their 2000 Dodge van was burlarized in the 1300 block of Shadow Lake Terr. sometime between Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. and November 29 at 6 a.m. An unknown offender(s) pried off the exterior trim piece on the dashboard and removed a tv/radio, in addition to 10 DVD's and two bank debit cards. The car was reportedly left unlocked. 

A victim reported their silver Mazda SUV was burglarized in the 400 block of Diane Dr. on Nov. 29 between 6 p.m and 10:06 p.m. The unknown offender(s) took a purse that was sitting on the front passenger seat. The victim found the purse about 300 feet from the car with the contents dumped out. Taken was $80 to $100 in U.S. currency. The car was reportedly left unlocked.

A victim reported their black 2008 Ford sedan was burglarized on Nov. 30 between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Prairie Brook Dr. The front passenger side window was shattered, and the unknown offender(s) took a Cannon Vixia digital camera that was left on the front passenger seat. The camera was valued at $500.

A victim reported their 2012 Toyota sedan was burglarized sometime between Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 3:16 p.m. Taken from the glove compartment was a pair of Calvin Klein prescription glasses. The car was also ransacked but nothing else was reported missing. The victim reportedly left the car unlocked.

Criminal Damage to Property

A victim reported a bedroom window was smashed with a rock on Dec. 3 at 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Evergreen Dr. The victim was reportedly asleep when she was awoken to a loud noise in a separate bedroom and found a rock and shattered glass on the floor.  

Bike Theft

A victim reported a mountain bike was stolen out of a garage sometime between Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 7:10 p.m. in the 500 E. block of Constitution Dr. The victim noticed the garage door opened, and the white Genesis 2100 mountain bike with LED headlights was gone. The bike is valued at $300.  

Theft from Coin Operated Machines

Two thefts occurred from two separate coin operated commercial dryers sometime between Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Baldwin Ct. The first dryer was overturned and approximately $100 in quarters taken; an unknown pry-tool was used on a second machine which was tipped against the wall. Roughly $100 in quarters were stolen.  

DUI

Tomasz O. Kryca, 40, of the 1700 W. block of Crystal Ln., Mt. Prospect, was stopped in the 2200 block of N. Rand Rd. on Nov. 30 12:53 a.m. Kryca was charged with DUI and improper lane usage.

Marc K. Boone II, 37, of the 400 N. block of Smith St. was encountered by police after a caller requested a well-being check on him in the 0-100 block of Bothwell St. Boone was arrested and charged with DUI, having a blood alcohol content of more than .08 and not having a license on his person.
