Palatine Man Tries to 'Head-Butt' and Bite Officers During Arrest for Disorderly Conduct

Andrew J. Castillo, 25, of Palatine, was charged with two counts of domestic-related disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer on Dec. 13.

A Palatine man was arrested Dec. 13 after police said he attempted to "head-butt" and bite several officers who were taking the offender into custody following two incidents of domestic disturbance, according to a Palatine Police Department press release.

Andrew J. Castillo, 25, of the 800 block of Panorama Drive, in Palatine, was charged  with two counts of domestic-related disorderly conduct and one count of resisting a police officer. Bond was set at $3,500. Castillo has a pending court date of Jan. 2.

Palatine Police received a call at 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 13 of a subject pounding and kicking an apartment door in the 800 block of Panorama Drive. When officers arrived, they observed a male subject who had been involved in another domestic disturbance an hour earlier. This time, he was banging on the door and yelling at the occupants of an apartment where his girlfriend and child had taken refuge after the first domestic disturbance.

Officers confronted Castillo as he continued pounding on the apartment door, telling him to stop shouting and banging on the door because the people inside the apartment felt threatened and were afraid for their safety. Castillo refused the officers instructions and continued to cause a disturbance.

Officers informed Castillo that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct and attempted to take him into custody. Castillo refused to listen to the officers' commands and resisted their efforts, including attempting to “head-butt” and bite the officers multiple times.
