Mother Accused of Fracturing Baby's Legs, Skull

An Arlington Heights woman has been charged with aggravated battery of a child.

An Arlington Heights woman faces criminal charges after fracturing the legs and skull of a 2-month old baby boy, police said.

Rubi Cabrera, 19, has been charged with aggravated battery of a child. Police and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) officials were called to Lutheran General Hospital on Friday, Aug. 19.

A child abuse pediatrician found the infant boy had facial bruising and cuts along with fractures of both legs and his skull. Arlington Heights police said it was the doctor's opinion that the injuries were consistent with child abuse and not the result of normal infant care.

The baby has been placed into the custody of DCFS.

Police said they questioned Cabrera and she said that she often becomes frustrated with the baby because he cries a lot. Police also said that Cabrera told them that on several occasions she would jerk the baby violently by his legs while changing his diaper and on one occasion struck his head on the frame of the bed.

The injuries the baby sustained have occured over the last month.

Cabrera is free on $35,000 bond.

$35,000.00 bond ? She is out, which means someone came up with $3,500.00 $3500.00 and she is walking after allegedly, picking up a person by his ankle and slamming him into a piece of furniture , fracturing his skull,,,,, and where is the report ON THE FATHER AND HIS REACTION ?

"allegedly" -- Therein lies the problem. I guess she's innocent until proven guilty. And that's the way it needs to be -- but, that said, $35,000 is way too low. At least she no longer has the baby. At the very least, she belongs in the psych ward.

Neuter this woman. She should never have a child. Absolutely disgusting what she did to that child.

This lady should be shot! why bother letting her go through court, etc. It will cost a lot of money, and time. She obviously is mental. Do society a favor, and get rid of her

So Sharon is an advocate for exterminating the mentally ill without a trial. WOW!!!
