Cook County Sheriff Conducts Random Roadside Checks Tonight

Expect to be stopped tonight near Dundee and Route 53 in an effort to stop drunk driving.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced today there will be random roadside safety checks conducted tonight near Dundee Road and Route 53, according to a press release. 

The effort is meant to curb drunk driving in Palatine Township, according to the release, and drivers will be screened to ensure they have a proper driver's license and registration, in addition to equipment checks and for other violations. 

The release states, "any suspicious passengers will be subject to scrutiny by police."

The checks will be conducted in partnership with the Illinois State police.
