Bomb Threat at Harper College Forces Evacuation

The gym at Harper College in Palatine remains closed Monday evening, but is expected to re-open Tuesday following an unfounded Veterans Day bomb threat.

A bomb threat at Harper College, which resulted in the evacuation of the gym on Monday afternoon, was determined to be unfounded.

Following a thorough search and investigation, police issued an "all clear" at 4:05 p.m. However, Building M remains closed through Monday evening, according to the school's website. All other members of the campus community were instructed to avoid this area for the remainder of the evening.

The gym will re-open Tuesday, Nov. 12.

An evacuation was ordered after a staff member found a note in the men's locker room indicating a bomb would detonate at 3 p.m., reported the Chicago Tribune. About 200 people were in the gym at the time of the evacuation, according to the story. No other classes were affected Monday.
