Reverend Dr. John A. Nunes to Visit Immanuel Palatine

Dr. John Nunes, CEO of Lutheran World Relief (LWR), a $35 million global organization, will be Immanuel Lutheran's gust pastor Father's Day Weekend.

I am pleased to announce that the Reverend Dr. John Nunes, President and CEO of Lutheran World Relief (LWR), will be speaking at Immanuel on Father’s Day weekend, June 16 and 17. Dr. Nunes is the brother of our own Deaconess Brenna Nunes, director of youth ministry here at Immanuel. Dr. Nunes’ visit to Immanuel is exciting on many levels.

LWR is a $35 million global organization working in 17 countries to end poverty, injustice and human suffering worldwide. LWR is also a partner in the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI), which mobilizes U.S. Lutherans in the global effort to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015. LMI is a partnership of Lutheran World Relief and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and is made possible through support from the United Nations Foundation.

Dr. Nunes, a gifted and frequent keynote public speaker, shares God’s message in clear and unmistakable language. His sermon will be rich in scripture for Father’s Day and he will also share the latest information about Lutheran World Relief’s efforts to help people throughout the world. He last spoke at Immanuel for his sister’s Installation Service. We’re thankful that his schedule allows him to speak at all four of our Father’s Day weekend worship services, Saturday June 16 at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday June 17 at 8:00, 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. All four services will be webcast live and recorded for later viewing.
