Rockin' The Blocks in Palatine Kicks Off Friday

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce presents Rockin’ The Blocks, an annual Community Block Party. This free outdoor festival event will be held on Friday, July 25 from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and on Saturday, July 26 from 12:00pm to 11:00pm in downtown Palatine at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets.

Rockin’ The Blocks will include live entertainment, family activities, a youth and teen singing contest, food vendors, a beer garden, and much more. Admission is free. Tickets will be available for purchase for beer, wine, pop, water, and food. Food vendors include Hot Dog Richie’s, Signature Sweets, Tre Amici, and Yumz Frozen Yogurt.

Friday:

·         6:00pm-8:00pm – Nothing Yet

·         8:30pm-10:45pm – Mustache Pete

 Saturday:

·         4:00pm-5:30pm – Allison Wonder Band

·         6:00pm-8:00pm – The Davenport Project

·         8:30pm-10:45pm – Our Name is Jonas

 Family Day will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.  This is a free afternoon of events open to the community. On the stage, musical chairs games will be played from 12:30pm to 1:00pm followed by the Palatine Rocks Singing Contest. Pre-registered singers will perform from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. The contest features two divisions of performers: Juniors ages 6 to 12 and Teens ages 13 to 19. Performers from Borne to Dance will take the stage at 2:45pm.

 In the Family Day Area, a variety of community groups will be offering hands on activities including a fire truck from the Palatine Fire Department, chair massages with Elements Massage, a samurai challenge with J.P. Wood Martial Arts, face painting with Positive Strokes and Safari Childcare, roaming balloon artist Hank Sobotka, and games provided by Taylor Rental.

 The following family day games and contests are also scheduled for Saturday afternoon:

·         Water balloon toss: 2:15pm

·         Watermelon eating contest: 3:15pm

·         Lego building contests presented by Legoland: 12:30pm, 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm, 3:30pm
