Letter to the Editor: “Sequester Dumb Way to Do Things”

Local resident Roz Lange discusses the evolution of the sequester, and how politics is getting in the way of resolution.

Just prior to the sequester deadline the president referred to it as a dumb way of doing things. Interesting because his own administration admits to creating the idea & has threatened to veto any attempt to repeal it.

Back in 2012 the House Republicans passed two pieces of legislation to replace the sequesters across the board budget cuts with responsible common sense cuts but they were blocked by the Democratically controlled Senate, although they made no alternative suggestions of their own.

Apparently the president is suppose to meet with the congressional leaders about the sequester after the deadline. It would be nice if he could stop wasting taxpayer money running around the country still campaigning & walk the few steps over to the Capitol to start leading instead of politicking.
