Sharon V. Watkins, 65

Sharon V. Watkins, 65, died Feb. 2 at the Pepper Family Hospice House, Barrington, with her family at her side. The funeral service at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., and interment, will be private.

Watkins was born Feb. 17, 1945 in Chicago. She was a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest. Watkins taught second and fourth grade at the Lutheran elementary school in Lansing. She also was a typesetter for 20 years. The last 13 years she worked at the American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP] in Elk Grove Village.

Watkins was honored to work at the AAP and enjoyed working with the co-workers who also were her friends. Her hobbies included baking, painting, puzzles and the computer.

Survivors include her aunt, Harriett Powers; special friend, Mimi Sands; Godson Bryan (Shelley) Bartz and their son, Levi Bartz; and many cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy W. "Lee" Watkins; and parents, Irvin and Mildred (nee: Bartz) Krueger.
