Mr. Joseph Anthony Scaletta

Joseph A. "Joe" Scaletta, formerly of Chicago and Mt. Prospect, went with the Lord peacefully on May 6, 2012 after a long and full life of 91 years. Joe served our country in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate from 1943-1946. In 1949, he married Jean M. Kasperowicz, raised 4 children and shared 30 loving years together until her death in 1980. He worked for Kraft Foods for 30 years as a design engineer and retired in 1988 at age 67. Joe loved living a simple life and enjoyed the company of his family, friends and a good round of golf.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen, Sandra (Lee) Peterson, Daniel, and Sharon (Pete) Barber; grandchildren, Kevin, Emalie and Erich Barber and Dillon Peterson; sister, Catherine "Kay" (the late Calvin) Swansen and nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his long time friend and companion Marion Hilgers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean M., parents, Dora and Sam and brother, Philip R. Scaletta.

Funeral Information

Visitation Friday, May 11, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.
