Up And Away

While walking yesterday, I came upon a pond that had what had to be hundreds of geese and mallards in and around it.

I watched them intently. Many stood on the ice that surrounded the cold water ,while others slid into the pond for a swim.  The sound of so many birds in one place was impressive. While the geese honked, the mallards quacked and dipped their heads at their mates.

It was an orchestra like none I'd head before.After watching the scene for quite some time, a large number of geese flew up from the pond as mother nature beckoned them to travel elsewhere.

I snapped this photo while the honking got louder and louder as they rose into the sky above my head.
