Lavelle Law Attorney Provides Free Consultations at Palatine Opportunity Center

Carrie Harrington, an attorney at Palatine's Lavelle Law, Ltd is providing free consultations to Spanish speaking individuals at the Palatine Opportunity Center.

Attorney Carrie A. Harrington, an Associate at Palatine’s Lavelle Law, Ltd., has begun a series of free consultations to serve the Spanish speaking population at the Palatine Opportunity Center. Harrington will visit the facility twice each month to provide the evaluations of a variety of legal needs.

The Palatine Opportunity Center was founded in 1999 to assist Palatine families with basic health, financial, and social concerns. It offers a range of resources, especially to those who are new to the community and need assistance during periods of transition. “We are here to serve individuals and families from all backgrounds, but especially those who face language or functional obstacles in getting themselves established in the area,” said Kathy Millin, Executive Director of the center.

Harrington works with the staff at the Palatine Opportunity Center to schedule 20-minute sessions during her visits. The staff will gather information from the individual so that Harrington can review materials ahead of the meeting and be prepared to offer assistance during the consultation. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Iowa College of Law, Harrington is fluent in Spanish, and is looking to expand her practice to serve that community in the northwest suburbs. “Many of the cases I see deal with immigration or family law,” said Harrington. “Frequently, there is a need to simply review documents and make sure that everything is in place so that when they are submitted there are no delays in addressing the issue at hand.”

Harrington is providing her services at no charge for the consultations as a means of serving a growing population in need. “When I came on board at Lavelle Law, I was well aware of their commitment to the community and the many awards and accolades they have received for community service,” Harrington said. “This is an area where I feel I can make a significant contribution, and I sincerely appreciate the way in which I have been welcomed by the Palatine Opportunity Center.”

Anyone who is interested in arranging a consultation with Carrie Harrington can make an appointment by stopping by the Palatine Opportunity Center at 1585 North Rand Road.
