Immanuel Lutheran Celebrates “Pink Day:” Intergenerational Show of Support During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Students, faculty, members of “50s Plus”, an active, older-adult ministry, and guests of Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine gathered in the school’s gym to form a human pink ribbon during their annual PINK DAY on Friday, October 18th.  Each year, students raise money by giving pink ribbons to those donating money to support breast cancer research.  This year, proceeds from the sale of the ribbons will benefit the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

“We are proud of the initiative our students take at Immanuel to raise awareness for breast cancer and support this vital research,” said Reverend Thomas Acton, senior pastor of Immanuel.

“It was exciting to see Immanuel Lutheran School go “pink” to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was significant that the students gathered with breast cancer survivors and member of the 50s Plus group for prayer and a group picture,” said Dave Ingwersen, Immanuel’s principal.

The event was sponsored by members of the school’s student council.
