Auxiliary Post 690 Hosting Holiday 'Stop, Sip & Shop'

Do some one-stop holiday shopping from a variety of vendors at Sunday's "Stop, Sip & Shop" event hosted by Palatine American Legion Auxiliary Post 690.

The Palatine American Legion Auxiliary Post 690 is hosting Stop, Sip & Shop on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the American Legion Hall, 122 W. Palatine Rd.

The event, which is open to the public, raises funds for Legion Family Charities.

"Join us for an afternoon of one stop holiday shopping," said Lisa Wente, event co-chair. "You’ll be able to select your holiday gifts from over a dozen vendors, enjoy a drink from our cash bar and participate in our raffle."

Some of the participating companies in this event are Avon, Hand Sewn by Alice, Scentsy Candles, Tastefully Simple, Jewels by ParkLane, Janet’s Jewelry, It’s Not Just a Box, Tupperware, PartyLite, Origami Owl, Cool Peaces and as Stella and Dot.

The companies will be donating 10 percent of their proceeds to Legion Family Charities and a small item for the raffle.

About the Auxiliary

Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary has almost one million members in nearly 10,500 units. The auxiliary administers volunteer programs for veterans as well as within the community and is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through units located in every state and some foreign countries, the auxiliary raises money to support its own programs as well as other worthwhile charities.

"We are always looking for new members for the American Legion Auxiliary," said Pat Kowalski, auxiliary president. "If you are interested in supporting those individuals who have defended our country then the Auxiliary is the organization for you."
