Spice up Valentine's Day with romantic cooking class

If Valentine’s Day has become a bit too predictable, spice up the holiday with Romantic Valentine Dinner for Two, a new cooking class offered through Harper College’s Continuing Education department.

Sweethearts can skip the crowded restaurants and enjoy an elegant candlelit dinner after learning how to make some classic gourmet dishes.

The class will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at My Chef Station, 632 E. Irving Park Road in Roselle.

The night’s decadent menu will start with oysters Rockefeller and grilled shrimp and pancetta skewers. Next is a winter green salad with berries and white chocolate vinaigrette, followed by crusted beef tenderloin, risotto and smoked ham-wrapped asparagus topped with a béchamel sauce. Finish with chocolate lava cakes for dessert.

The cost is $200 per couple. Seating is limited. To register, call 847.925.6300 or visit harpercollege.edu/ce.
