Why Go?: Enjoy several spring craft beers and learn how to pair foods with them while helping to raise funds for the Save-A-Pet Center in Grayslake. Save-A-Pet works to increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and cares for animals while they try to find homes for them. Food will be served. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Where / When: Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights; 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, April 16.

Why Go?: One of a kind culinary competition. The challenge is to combine sweet and savory tastes into a winning dish. Foods will be judged by chefs from Whole Foods Market in Palatine, Specialty Foods and Le Titi de Paris.

Why Go?: Hear the Los Angeles Quartet perform Bluegrass to Bach as part of Harper College's Community Music Center's Guitar Legend Series. Proceeds will benefit the center's guitar program for children. Some of the children will perform during a special pre-concert reception.

Pricing: $45 per ticket for reserved seating

 

5. Monsters of Mock - Featuring Eliminator (ZZ Top) and Who's Who (The Who)

Where / When: , 180 N. Smith St., Palatine; 9 p.m.; Friday, April 15.

Why Go?: Not just another cover band, these bands are seasoned veterans of rock-and-roll. Their hard work combined with their talent makes them premier performers. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Pricing: $5 cover
