Excessive Heat Warning for Palatine, Northern Illinois

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for northern Illinois.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Palatine and Northern Illinois.

As of 1 p.m., the National Weather Service was predicting Wednesday, July 20 to be the hottest day this week with a high temperature of 98. Humid conditions were expected to push the heat index-how hot it feels outside–above 110.

The excessive heat warning will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Friday.

"An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur," the National Weather Service states. "The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely."

Thursday is not expected to much better with a high temperature of 96 and heat index values as high as 108.

The temperature is expected to come down a little bit for the weekend with highs of 89 predicted for Friday and 90 for Saturday and Sunday.
