An Art Affair Around the Square This Weekend

Why Go?: The presents their annual juried art show. The artwork of over 35 fine artists will be on display and for sale. Local musicians, including the Palatine Children's Choir and Small Potatoes among others, will perform live under the gazebo. The American Legion Post 690 will be serving hot dogs and drinks. There will also be a wine-tasting presentation on Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m.

Where / When: ; 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9.

Why Go?: Visit eleven different locations in downtown Palatine and learn about the history of each building. Hear stories of past residents and businesses. Treats will be served along the way and the crawl will end at where light hors d'oeuvres will be available. Tickets can be purchased at the or the .

Pricing: $10 in advance; $15 at the event.

Where / When: ; 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 10.

Why Go?:  All writers are invited to this poetry workshop. Angela Narciso Torres will discuss Music, Meaning & the Blues: Using Repetition. She will show examples of this writing style in poems and then participants will practice using it in writing exercises she will provide.

Pricing: $15 per person.

Where / When: ; 4:30 - 9 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 11.

Why Go?: Ladies-only fundraiser. Shopping, socializing, wine, hors d'oeuvres and a full dinner. Laugh Out Loud performance.

Pricing: $55 per person.

Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

6. Sixteen Candles with The Personnel

Where / When: ; doors open at 9:15 p.m., show begins at 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9.

Why Go? Hear the 5 fun-loving bandmates of Sixteen Candles perform great '80s songs with their nostalgic twist and spectacular style. Must be 21 or older to attend.
