Palatine Harley Shop Celebrates New Location, Tripling Size

City Limits Harley Davidson is officially moved into its new 52,000 square foot location. The grand opening will be Sept. 17.

City Limits Harley Davidson quietly opened the doors to its new location, 2015 N. Rand Rd., Aug. 24.

But the roar was a little louder when the hosted a ceremony to welcome the business to town Friday night.

Mayor Jim Schwants led a motorcycle procession escorted by off-duty Harley motorcycle riders to the front doors of the new 52,000 square foot location.

The procession was the culmination of more than two years since owners Ozzie and Jill Giglio began planning the larger site for their growing business.

“We did a great business at our former store despite being in a smaller building; now we are finally in a space that is more suitable to our team and our growth,”  Ozzie Giglio said. “It took a long time, but we did it.”

The new location is nearly triple the size of the former location at 2200 North Rand Rd., just north of Hicks Road, which was 18,000 square feet.

“The expansion was definitely a labor of love," Jill Giglio said. "It did take a couple of years, but we’re as proud as ever to finally have it opened."

The business features new and pre-owned Harley Davidson motorcycles, parts and accessories and motor clothes clothing apparel.

Service and parts for the motorcycles are also available on-site.

Moving to the new location also has created four more jobs in addition to the 25 positions at the previous location.

“It’s not just the new building that I like; the fact that Ozzie and Jill chose to stay here in the village shows a loyalty and an intent to reinvest in Palatine,” Mayor Jim Schwantz said. “That means the world to us.”

The location is a full-service dealership and includes a service department.

"We really can take care of any needs Harley riders may have," general manager Jeff Smith said.

Smith said the larger size of the new location will not change the quality of service offered by the business over the last 25 years.

“We’ve always been a very customer-oriented business, and we’re going to continue that family feeling when people walk in our doors here at our new location,” Smith said.

The Giglios own four other Harley Davidson locations in Berwyn, Villa Park, St. Charles and a smaller store at O’Hare Airport, which are all part of the Windy City Harley Davidson Group. Villa Park was the first location to open about 12 years ago.

A grand opening celebration will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the store.

The celebration will include a performance by Hot Rocks, a Rolling Stones tribute band, in addition to a pig roast, food, beverages and the crowning of Ms. Windy City Harley Davidson during a bikini contest.

The celebration is open to the public.

“When you ride a Harley, it’s all about freedom of expression," Jill Giglio said. "We fight for that freedom in this country, and we live for it, every day."

The new location is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
