Palatine Township to Vote in Straw Poll For Republican Presidential Candidates

PTRO will be hosting one of the locations for the Illinois Straw Poll allowing area residents to vote for their preferred Republican presidential candidate on Saturday, November 5th.

The Palatine Township Republican Organization (PTRO), the official Republican organization of Palatine Township, will be hosting one of the locations for the Illinois Straw Poll allowing area residents to vote for their preferred Republican presidential candidate on Saturday, November 5th starting at 10:00 AM at the PTRO office at 839 N. Quentin Road in Palatine.

In-person paper voting, run by the GOP County Chairmen, will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Voters wishing to participate must be Illinois residents and contribute $5.00 to the Republican Party to help cover the cost of the straw poll.  The proceeds will help candidates up and down the ballot.

Voters can also participate in the Illinois Straw Poll online at www.illinoisstrawpoll.com beginning on October 29th.  Individuals wishing to vote online must have a credit/debit card with an Illinois Zip Code and contribute $5.00 to the Illinois Republican Party.  The results from both the online and paper polls will be combined and announced at a special event scheduled at the GOP headquarters in Chicago the night of Saturday, November 5th.

The polls will open immediately following the PTRO monthly meeting.  “This month’s meeting will feature two speakers, Senator Mark Kirk and Republican Party Cook County Chairman Sig Vaznelis,” said Aaron Del Mar, Palatine Township Republican Committeeman.  “Kirk will update us on important world events, explain why our state’s debt is unsustainable and detail his accomplishments as our US Senator.  Chairman Vaznelis will be sharing his plan to build a stronger Republican Party in Cook County in order to elect Republican candidates.  Come out and join us at the meeting and then vote for your candidate in the straw poll.”

Founded in 2010 by newly elected Palatine Township Republican Committeeman Aaron Del Mar, PTRO coordinates the Republican Party’s efforts in the township.  Led by Del Mar, Committeewoman Sharon Langlotz-Johnson and President Collin Corbett, PTRO promotes the foundational principles of the Republican Party, namely fiscal responsibility, personal accountability and limited, transparent government, and works to elect Republican candidates who espouse those principles.
