Palatine Jaycees To Hold Best Pizza Competition

The Palatine Jaycees will be holding a contest to determine who makes the best pizza in the Palatine area on Sunday, December 11th starting at 2:30 PM at Durty Nellie’s Bar and Grill.

The Palatine Jaycees will be holding a contest to determine who makes the best pizza in the Palatine area on Sunday, Dec. 11 starting at 2:30 p.m. at Durty Nellie’s Bar and Grill located at 120 N. Smith Street in Palatine.

“Palatine truly is a place where a person will experience a hometown feeling and enjoy the best pizza around,” said Collin Corbett, chair of the project. “For a $5.00 donation, area residents will be able to judge for themselves who makes the best pizza in the area and at the same time help the community. We’ll have six of Palatine’s best pizza establishments in the competition and you’ll be able to enjoy a Bear’s victory on big screen televisions while you are sampling pizza.”

This year the Palatine Jaycees will donate nearly $10,000 during December to help people in need in Palatine.  The Jaycees will provide holiday gifts for four families and several more individuals in need in the Adopt-a-Family and Angel Tree programs.  For underprivileged children, the Jaycees will co-sponsor a Kid's Holiday Party for 150 deserving children on Dec. 14 featuring crafts, games and donated gifts for each child. For seniors, they will sponsor a Holiday Party at the Senior Center on December 20th where seniors will receive gift cards and treats.  The Jaycees are also helping military families.

During their Shopping Spree for Military families' project, the Jaycees will give out gift cards to 10 military families and provide personal shoppers to help the families make the holidays brighter.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees is one of the nearly 100 local Chapters and one of the largest chapters in Illinois.  The Palatine Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community.

Every year, the Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees conducts numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the Chapter and community donations.  Included in these projects is the Sand sale, Fourth of July Festival, Christmas tree sales, the annual garage sale and other projects that benefit the community and help raise funds.

The Palatine Chapter holds their monthly general meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.  For further information on the Palatine Jaycees, membership or any of their sponsored events write to the Palatine Jaycees, Post Office Box 1517, Palatine, IL 60078-1517, call them at 847-604-0288, email them at info@palatinejaycees.org or visit www.palatinejaycees.org.
