Unique End-of-Year Teacher's Gift Ideas

Make the grade with these unique teacher's gift Ideas.

The school year is winding down and the last day of school is quickly approaching. There is one last homework assignment for Moms and that's the end-of-year teachers' gifts. I try to get my kids' teachers something either really unique or something they could really use, but sometimes it's hard to come up with ideas.

I live in a neighborhood with a lot of teachers so a few years ago I asked them what teacher's gifts they appreciated most. You can read their answers in my post 10 Perfect Teachers Gift Ideas

If you want want to do a little something extra and make a gift with your child for his or her teacher, check out this post on Fun Homemade Teacher's Gift Ideas

What do you normally get your kids' teachers at the end of the school year? Please share your ideas. Teachers, feel free to weigh in on what you appreciate the most.

When I was a room parent, we had a caricature of the teacher made and all the kids signed it with a personal note. The picture was not too big or crazy. We framed it for her to keep on the classroom wall. In addition, I have each of my children decide on what they want to make (like cookies or granola) for the teacher and I give her a gas, Jewel, AMC, or restaurant gift card. I'm more into practical gift giving as I do not like knick-knacks around my house. With a classroom full of 22-26 children, momentos and flowers add up quickly and teacher may not have room to house everything, although I am sure she will be gracious and grateful with whatever gift she is given.

If you're looking for a slight twist on the traditional teacher's gift, check out this apple shaped hand soap. It's super cute and even better, it's half off for the next two weeks in honor of end-of-the-school-year gifts! http://www.sjcreationsinc.com/blog/2011/05/24/an-apple-for-a-teacher/

We sell a lot of Teacher's Gifts at Someone's in the Kitchen. There are adorable checkered "buckets of napkins" that can also be used as placemats,, kitchen gadgets, wine bags, colorful mixing bowls, Olive tap olive oils and balsamics and so much more. We have creative, cute gifts that everyone really enjoys. In addition, we sell a lot of cooking class gift cards.

For the teachers at the grade school, if the class doesn't collect money I either get a Vera Bradley book cover (Amazon.com only) or the Vera Bradley clip zip id wallet (cost is about $10) with a starbuck's gift card inside. For day care teachers for the younger kids, I give a generous Target gift card or cash as these teachers are paid so little. The day care center directors get block buster gift cards, target, or starbucks. Don't forget the cook that makes all the kids' food every day - I think these positions get overlooked.
