Palatine St. Patrick Day Parade Entries Sought

The 2nd Annual 'Paint the Town Green' event will be held in Palatine on Saturday, March 17.

The 2nd Annual ‘Paint the Town Green’ event will be held in Palatine on Saturday, March 17. The highlight of the day will consist of a parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Palatine, an Irish Market from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., and numerous other activities throughout the Village.

Applications for entry in the parade are being accepted through Jan. 31. “Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, we expect a great turnout and a real ‘sharin’ o’ the green’ in 2012.  This is one of the very few St. Patrick’s parades in the Chicago Area and I’m excited to see it return to Palatine,” stated event coordinator, Liz Noe of ElizEvents. Noe stated that notification of acceptance into the parade will be sent by Feb. 20.

The parade will also serve to collect food, clothing and disposable paper products for Journeys from PADS to HOPE, an organization serving the homeless and near-homeless in the north and northwest suburbs.  The parade begins at the corner of Wood and Oak Streets in downtown Palatine and continues west to Brockway and south to Wilson.

“Entertainment is being planned at a number of local businesses throughout the day,” Noe mentioned that the full schedule of events will be released in early February and the hope is that the public will be drawn to Palatine to support local merchants.

The ‘Paint the Town Green’ event continues to enhance Palatine’s position as a destination town for public festivals; sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available for interested area businesses. Sponsorships start at $100 and current sponsors include Durty Nellie’s and the Journal & Topics Newspaper.
