Palatine Couple Wins $3.75 Million

Palatine couple accepts $3.75 million check from Illinois Lottery Thursday.

Palatine couple, Wesley and Margaret Martin accepted an oversized, $3.75 million check from the Illinois Lottery at the Mejier store in Rolling Meadows Thursday.

The Martins returned to the store where 66-year-old Wesley purchased the $3.75 million winning Quick Pick ticket that matched all six numbers from the Sept. 26 drawing. 

Illinois newest millionaires, the Martins first plan to pay off their mortgage and credit card debit with their winnings, the Journal Online reports.

Palatine residents since 1969, the Daily Herald reports, the couple will continue to live in their home in Palatine with their two sons. According to the newspaper, Patrick and Christopher, both in their 30s, will be keep living in the house to help their disabled parents get around.

Accepting their winnings in one lump sum, the Martins will receive about $2.5 million after taxes. After paying off their debt, the Journal Online reports, the Martins may use some of the money to go on a cruise.
