Palatine Bike Task Force Holding 4th Annual Cycle Fest Bike Ride

Cyclists enjoy a leisurely 10- or 20-mile ride through Palatine's side streets and bike paths in the 2012 Cycle Fest .

The Palatine Bike Task Force presents the 4th Annual Cycle Fest Bike Ride on Saturday, August 25 at 9 am. This casual ride will begin at Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine, and winds through the side streets and existing bike paths of Palatine, with the goal of raising money for bike improvements identified in the Village’s bike plan and by Palatine’s riding community. Participants can choose either the 10-mile option or the 20-mile route for a day of fun.  Families will enjoy the leisurely pace. Helmets are required. Cycle Fest is presented as part of the Annual Street Fest event.

While race day registration will be accepted, the early bird registration deadline is Friday, August 10th. Completion of the Cycle Fest form is required to register for the event. Forms can be downloaded at www.bikepalatine.com or can be picked up at Mikes Bike Shop located at 155 N Northwest Hwy. All participants pre-registered by August 10 will receive a free race t-shirt.

The pre-race registration fee is $25 per person. A family fee is also available: if two family members pay the full fee, additional family members are just $5 each. This special family fee is available with pre-registration only. The fee for race day registration is $25 per person. Extra t-shirts and late registrant t-shirts are $15 each.

This kind of an event is only possible with community support. Area organizations that are sponsoring this year’s Cycle Fest include: Jewel Foods, Mikes Bike Shop, Great American Bagel, and Illinois State Representative Tom Morrison.
