Palatine Township Residents - Time to PRE-File Your Property Tax Appeal

Palatine Township taxpayers now have a 2nd opportunity to appeal their recent assessment notice.

Palatine Township residents can now PRE-file an appeal to their property assessment with the Board of Review.  Palatine Township opens officially for Board of Review appeals on September 23rd.  Residents have until October 22nd to file their appeal.  Reducing the assessed value of your property can help reduce your property taxes.

This appeal is for the new 2013 assessed value sent out earlier this year by the Cook County Assessor.  Reductions will appear on the 2nd half tax-bill in mailed in late 2014.

The Palatine Township Assessor’s Office can help residents file their appeals. Typically appeals are filed using comparable properties.  The Palatine Township Assessor Office has a program that will list comparable properties and their values.  This data can be used to file an appeal.

Residents should also note that if they have had a recent appraisal done to their property, by a certified appraiser, that too can be used as the basis for their appeal.
